Job Description:
We are looking for Server Systems Administrators to support the enterprise-wide integration, automation, and management of Linux and Windows servers and integration with disparate network system resources.
The Server Systems Administrator shall possess the following capabilities:
- Install, configure, and maintain Linux and Windows-based servers and systems, ensuring optimal performance, security, and availability.
- Identify servers to be virtualized, create test environments, convert servers, and maintain physical/virtual infrastructure as part of standard IT systems administration.
- Perform system updates, patches, DISA STIG implementations and upgrades as needed to maintain a secure and stable environment.
- Configure and manage WSUS/SCCM for patching and application management.
- Ensure the security of our systems by implementing and enforcing best practices, such as firewall configuration, intrusion detection, and access control.
- Monitor system performance, identify issues, and implement necessary optimizations and improvements.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for the Linux and Windows infrastructure, including processes, procedures, and guidelines.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues related to the Linux and Windows infrastructure.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement innovative solutions that meet business requirements.
- Manage users and groups, including use of a centralized directory for authentication.
- Monitor system and storage utilization.
- Provide SQL database support related to mission specific applications services including service life-cycle maintenance of databases, implementing reporting features, correcting database errors, modifying databases performing upgrades, and user training.
- Provide technical guidance and support to other team members as needed.
Qualifications:
- Candidate must have a total of 12 years of applicable experience. The experience can be a combination of degree and work history. This can be a High School degree and 12 years of work history OR an Associate’s and 10 years, a Bachelors’ and 8 years, a Masters and 6 years or a PhD and 4 years of work history. Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in Linux or Windows system administration, preferably in large-scale environments.
- Proficiency in various Linux distributions, such as Red Hat, CentOS, Ubuntu, and Debian.
- Strong knowledge of Linux server virtualization technologies, such as KVM, VMware, and Xen.
- Experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL 7.x 8.x 9.x) is required.
- Proficiency in various Windows server operating systems, such as Windows Server 2012, 2016, and 2019.
- Familiarity with Linux storage management, including LVM, RAID, and SAN/NAS.
- Experience with Linux security best practices and tools, such as SELinux, firewalls, and intrusion detection/prevention systems.
- Familiarity with Windows storage management, including RAID, SAN, and NAS.
- Experience with security best practices and tools, such as firewalls, intrusion detection, and access control.
Desired Qualifications:
- Relevant certifications, such as RHCE, RHCSA, LFCE, MCSA or MCSE are a plus.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated experience managing the installation and maintenance of IT infrastructure.
- Experience working in an environment with rapidly changing job priorities.
